This story will always have a place in modern culture---timeless!

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll is an iconic children’s classic beloved by generations of readers. Interestingly enough, I have some friends who didn’t love this book, however, I liked the whimsical story of Alice, a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole and discovers a delightful, topsy-turvy world full of strange characters and magical talking creatures. This story has inspired movies, themed rides, and Halloween costumes and is a must-read for all kids because of all of the cultural references they will see and hear in their lifetime about this story. With its humor, surreal plot devices, and memorable quotes, it’s easy to see how the book has stayed popular for over 100 years. This book is most appropriate for ages 8 and up. I do think younger kids may find the narrative a bit complex and the logic frustrating, so I would not introduce this story too early lest it turns the person away from the book altogether.  Although some of the scenes might seem a tad dark and oppressive, the overall story has a light-hearted and silly tone. I would rate this a 4 out of 5.
