An engaging detective book for kids 7-10!

My parents grew up reading Encyclopedia Brown (which I adore) and Nancy Drew books (never read) and Friday Barnes seemed like a gateway book into those series. Girl Detective: A Friday Barnes Mystery is the first book in the series and the story follows a mischievous and quirky Friday Barnes. Friday is an eleven-year-old girl detective attending an elite private school and is a breath of fresh air in terms of a main character (strong female lead but the book is really great for all genders in my opinion). There is some fun vocabulary in it and this book is filled with comical predicaments, new friendships, and plenty of mystery as Friday and her unlikely ally, Ian, take on any problem that crosses their paths. The series is written in a highly entertaining way, making it suitable for young readers between the ages of 7 and 10.
