A must-read for aspiring poets!

The book is a detailed exploration of the poet Mary Oliver’s works, offering a thoughtful and accessible overview of her style and approach to writing. This book has extremely useful tips for those interested in cultivating their poetry-writing skills. The book offers practical advice such as “read, read, read” all kinds and as much poetry as you can. Through that exposure, you will learn so much about creating evocative material, form, structure, word choice, and rhythm. A valuable and extremely surprising piece of advice was to “imitate.” She tells us that by imitating, we develop our own unique voice and what feels natural and authentic to each person as an individual. Seemingly counterintuitive, I haven’t really seen this advice before and I understand her rationale.  This book is a 5 out of 5 for me.
