Orphans of Chaos (The Chronicles of Chaos)

Book Title: Orphans of Chaos (The Chronicles of Chaos)

Book Description: For Amelia and her friends, the strict English boarding school she lives in is all she has ever known. The sprawling estate, bordered by unknown territory on all four sides, is both orphanage, academy, and prison. The school has a large staff, but only five students, none of whom know what their real names are, or even how old they are. Precocious and rebellious, all five teenagers are more than just prodigies. Amelia can see in four dimensions. Victor can control the molecular arrangement of matter. Vanity can find secret passageways where none existed before. Colin is a psychic. Quentin is a warlock. And, as time goes by, they're starting to suspect that none of them are entirely human . . . John C. Wright previous fantasy novels, the Epic Chronicles of Everness, were lavishly praised by both readers and reviewers. Now he embarks on an ambitious new saga that explores the overlapping boundaries of science, mythology, and the imagination.

A book for older kids who enjoy mythology

Orphans of Chaos is an exceptional fantasy novel written by John C. Wright. The book tells the story of three orphans, Olympia, Corinth, and Chalcedony who come from different fathers and seemingly different birthplaces. The siblings soon discover they have more in common than they realize – and more than they bargained for: they are all descended from the Olympian gods. With this lineage, they are recruited into a fight against evil, tasked with saving their grandfather from his captors in the netherworld. There is plenty of adventure and mystery to enjoy and Wright’s writing style keeps the reader engaged throughout. The characters are well-developed and each has their own unique identity, making them all the more enjoyable to follow. I would recommend this book to readers aged 12 and over. There are some violence and battle scenes, but nothing too gory.   I enjoy stories about mythology and mythology offshoots so I liked this book. I would give this 4 out of 5.
