For the students at the prestigious Maplethorpe Academy, every single thing they do is reflected in their ratings, updated daily and available for all to see.But when an act of vandalism sullies the front doors of the school, it sets off a chain reaction that will shake the lives of six special students -- and the world beyond.

Easy to pick up, hard to put down!
I love dystopian novels and sometimes they can be formulaic. Not this one though…the book has an interesting premise and great character development. The book “Rated: They count Everything” is written by Melissa Grey and is a thrilling and heartbreaking young adult novel about oppressive systems, hope, and young people fighting to make a difference. This dystopian novel is set in a society where everyone is given an average ranking at birth and must rise or fall for the rest of their lives. It follows the story of nine young people, all struggling against the oppressive system for a greater purpose. This book is appropriate for middle-grade and young adult readers, and though it deals with heavier themes, these conversations are explored in a way accessible to younger readers. The characters are incredibly relatable and readers will be drawn in by their unique personalities and bring the story to life. I would rate this book a 5/5. It is an incredibly thought-provoking and powerful story that really makes readers think twice about the systems in place in our world today. The themes of oppression and hope are well-developed and Grey does an excellent job of bringing her characters to life. It is a fantastic book that I highly recommend to readers, and I give it a 5/5.
