I loved the way this book incorporates magic!
If you are a magic lover, you should read The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris. Not only does the book have a cute story, but it also includes magic tricks! The book explores themes of friendship and courage while our protagonists, a group of mismatched children with unique magical abilities, struggle to save their beloved town of Mineral Wells from the scheming Baron Von Stinky. Despite being a pretty short book, I felt an affinity for the main characters. Through determined detective work, the misfits piece together their origin story and the mystery behind the Baron’s increasingly cruel actions. The story is incredibly creative, weaving together magical elements, suspense, and plenty of humor along the way. Even the characters have exciting qualities- each misfit reveals their own special power during the story. Neil Patrick Harris has also included some fantastic illustrations throughout the book that help bring the story to life. Overall, The Magic Misfits is an exciting, heartwarming story that’s sure to enchant readers. I’d give it a 5/5 rating.
