The Night Circus
Book Title: The Night Circus
Book Description: The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

Story / Interest
Needed better character development and felt rushed throughout.
The book Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is an interesting novel. The story follows two star-crossed lovers, Celia and Marco, who are pitted against one another in a mysterious and thrilling battle of magical performance. Erin Morgenstern’s writing is beautiful despite a lot of jumping around time spans in the book. The way the Circus is described is elaborate and will grab readers’ attention. The themes in Night Circus are age-appropriate for anyone 13+. The novel deals with themes of love, eternity, curiosity, and courage. As the magical battle between Celia and Marco unfolds, readers will enjoy the vivid circus descriptions. Night Circus also includes moments of funny dialogue that will make readers of any age chuckle. In a nutshell, I believe Night Circus is a book that could have benefitted from some further character development so the ready can empathize better with the main characters.I would have liked to have had more content about Celia and Marco’s relationship as that topic was treated lightly and seemed kind of convenient more than anything else.
